Adventure Fly Fishing in the Chilean Patagonia

When I first came to the Patagonia in 1997, I was struck by the abundance of wild trout, prolific hatches and pristine rivers. The breathtaking landscapes and the independent and welcoming spirit of the people of the Aysén region, make it an unforgettable place to visit. The South of Chile is sparsely populated, has very little crime, a clean environment and is a safe place to come with your family, friends and colleagues.

Come fish in Chile!

Why choose Frontera Fly Fishing?

The culture of fly fishing is flourishing in Chile, with many high-end lodges catering to international anglers. Frontera Fly Fishing was established to provide an alternative experience to that offered by large outfitters. I offer you a more flexible, more affordable, more enjoyable trip.
When you fish with me, I will put you onto waters that are fishing well during your trip and you will enjoy more time on the water than you would at a big lodge.

We will fish the type of water you’d like to fish, eat the food you’d like to eat and customize your trip to make it an unforgettable experience a larger outfitter cannot provide. We will fish on your schedule, not the lodge’s. You will get more time on the water.

You will walk and wade, or float, rivers like the Rio Pico, Cisnes, Ñirehuao, Jeinimeni, Exploradores, Cochrane, Baker, and less known streams. The area’s fisheries include massive rivers, chalk streams, freestone streams, ponds and lakes. When conditions permit, you can also target big trout on the huge Lago General Carrera, Chile’s largest lake, as well as other lakes in the region. We fish mainly for brown and rainbow trout, but can also go after Chile’s trophy king (chinook) salmon.

Hassle-free travel, quality accommodation, hospitality and all-inclusive pricing:
The highlights include staying at ranches, camps, small hotels or guesthouses that are close to, or right on the rivers. You will have the option of enjoying delicious hardy meals from local meats and produce, requesting your personal preferences and having your meals when you want them.
To make your trip as carefree as possible, your fishing licenses and airport transfers come included. I will personally assist in the coordination of your flights to Santiago and Balmaceda. I will pick you up at Balmaceda airport, near the city of Coyhaique, and be your personal guide during the extent of your stay. No surprise fees or charges after booking.
Also included in the cost of your trip are beer, wine, drinks, snacks and a reasonable selection of flies (though I always encourage anglers to bring a box of their favourites). Additional liquor orders and specialty food items can be arranged ahead of time.

While I am best set up for groups of two, additional anglers can be accommodated with excellent English-speaking guides with years of experience.

I would also be happy to assist you, should you wish to extend your visit to Argentina or other unique areas of Chile such as Magallanes/Tierra del Fuego, the regions of Lakes, Rivers and Volcanoes, the wine region around Santiago or the Atacama Desert. Chile is a beautiful and diverse country with a lot to offer.
